MADD Tree of Life to Honor Victims in Cumberland, Robeson and Sampson County

The MADD Tree of Life is scheduled to be lit on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 in honor of those who died or were seriously injured in a automobile or alcohol related crash in Cumberland, Robeson and Sampson County.

The "Tree of Life" is a join operation between the Fayetteville Police Department, the Hope Mills Police Department, Fort Bragg Provost Marshall and the Sandhills chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving. The ceremony will take place at the Fayetteville Police Department which is located at 467 Hay Street.

Residents of the area are encouraged to place a memory card on the tree in honor of family members, friends or loved ones that lost their lives or were seriously injured in a traffic related accident or a crash involving alcohol.

The tree will remain lit throughout the holidays to increase awareness of alcohol related traffic crashes. White lights symbolize traffic related fatalities and red lights symbolize victims of alcohol related incidents.

Interested in adding a memory card to the tree? Email the victim's name, date of crash and county to ahouse@ci.fay.nc.us.
