4th Brigade Soldier Killed in Attack in Khandahar Province

Fort Bragg loses another paratrooper in Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Fort Bragg soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Twenty-year-old Pfc. Brandon D. Goodine died Thursday in Maiwand, Afghanistan after enemy forces attacked his unit with an explosive device.

He was assigned to the 4th Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, at Fort Bragg.

Goodine's awards include the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with campaign star, the Global War on Terror Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the NATO Medal, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Combat Infantryman's Badge and the Parachutist Badge.

Goodine was originally from Luthersville, Ga. and is survived by his spouse Nicole.
