Camp Lejeune Marines Killed in Training Accident

Seven Marines died and others were injured in the Nevada accident.

Camp Lejeune confirmed to Patch that seven Marines were killed and several others injured Monday night when a mortar round exploded inside the tube during training at Hawthorne Army Depot in Nevada.

The Marines were from the 9th Marine Regiment out of Camp Lejeune, N.C., according to a WCTI 12 report. The identities of those killed will be provided 24 hours after primary next of kin notification. 

The accident is under investigation and the status of those injured will be provided as it becomes available.
