Detectives Seek Information in Murder Investigations

Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Detectives will set up a command post in the Skyland Shopping Center in Spring Lake next week.
On Tuesday, May 15, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. detectives will work to gather additional information in three separate homicide cases that have yet to be solved.
The victims include 19-year old Jose Bogantes who was shot to death on March 31, 2007 as he walked along Wilson Avenue in Spring Lake. Crimestoppers is offering a one thousand dollar reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction for the murder of Bogantes.
On March 21, 2008 William Simon, a local cab driver, was reported missing. The vehicle he was operating was found on Rosser Road in Spring Lake. It had been abandoned and personal items left inside. There is a five thousand dollar reward being offered by the Governor’s Office for anyone having information about Simon’s disappearance.
Finally, 83-year old Angel Delacruz was found dead inside his home on January 2, 2011 in Spring Lake. Delacruz was an Army veteran who served in Vietnam and Korea. He was known in the community as a loving husband and father and always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Crimestoppers is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for Delacruz’s murder.
