I as her mother miss everthing about her. Her beautiful smile, her since of humor and loyalty to the ones she loved. since heather was a young girl she always had a special gift and passion for the handicapped and special needs children she always signed up in school for any field trips that involved helping out and spending the day with a child with special needs. and felt blessed two have a child with health issues to love of her own. She loved all her children with all her heart. Heather loved to fish, hunt and camping she was and out doors kind of girl all her life. Like myself enjoyed the beach growing up in florida spent a great deal of her spare time there with friend and family. She will always be loved and missed by me until we are together in heaven! I know she is there and if you have excepted christ as your personal saviour as i have you will see her as well. Thanks to all who loved Heather and and sorry to the people who didnt because obviously you never really knew her well!

Sandy, again I cannot fathom your feeling of loss. I'm glad that you will always be able to share about Heather with her children. They will seek out the truth as they become older and the friend to all that she was.

Heather Nicole Smith was my daughter's (lisa hanes) best friend growing up. What I love most about Heather was her beautiful eyes and bright smile. She was always a happy go lucky girl. My family and I have been devastated by this horrific lose of a wonder mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter and friend. RIP Heather, we love and will miss you forever! To Sandy and the rest of the family, our prayers are with you always as well.

Heather,
You were a beautiful girl here on earth and I am sure God is using you for one of his angels now so you can walk beside and help others still here. My biggest regret was not spending enough time with you when you were older. Beside my own children, you were always my favorite. I loved your witty comments and the funny faces you always made to make us laugh back then. I admired the way you kept up with Jason who was older then you when it came to all that tomboy stuff. I even had to laugh under my breath occasionally when you both would gang up on Erica and torture her with bugs, worms ,ect. even though I got onto ya'll for it. I never have seen since then, a girl who could climb a tree and hang upside down with no fear like you did.Jason and I will have a hole in our hearts that can never be replaced, until we meet again in heaven. Please put a good word in to the Big Guy for me and my family. I will watch over your mom for you and I pray everyday for the grief she feels. We all miss you sooooo much!!!!!! Love Aunt Kim

I will always remember the first time I met Heather. She was so inviting, friendly, energetic, and had me laughing all night! You know how sometimes you can meet someone and instantly feel like you've known them for years? She was definitely able to make me feel that way. There was NEVER a dull moment when she was around..she was either telling a story or making a joke. Heather was such a strong person and would do anything in her power to fight for herself and her kids and anyone who knew her knows that!! No matter what was going on, she always found strength to keep going and even though I never got to tell her, I always looked up to her for that. Heather, I hope you know how much you are greatly missed and deeply loved by so many people!!! I love you!!! <3

I lived at Cross Creek Apartments on Manotak Avenue from 1990-1996. That's where I met Heather. She was friends with my son and daughter, Chad and Amber. She was very polite, funny, energetic, happy and always stood up for the underdog. My son told me that on their bus ride to Lakeshore Middle School, if someone was being picked on, she would stand up for the child and tell the bully to STOP. I remember when she cheered for Lakeshore and did gymnastics. I was so disheartened to hear of her tragedy. I hope and pray that justice is served soon. RIP Beautiful Heather

I owe Heather so much. A debt I could have never repaid. She and I met in Fayetteville and was instantly bonded together due to us both have "special" children. She directed me to an ophthalmologist that was able to help my son see. When my son's original ophthalmologist had given up on my son, Heather didn't! She is a kind, energetic, compassionate woman. I can not talk of her in the past tense of what she "was", because Heather DOES LIVE ON. Missing you girl!
