Fayetteville Police Officer Identified in Last Week's Traffic Stop Shooting
Fayetteville Police personnel have received threats and the case remains under investigation.
The name of the Fayetteville police officer who shot a man to death during a traffic stop last week was released Wednesday morning.
Officer Aaron Hunt, 24, was the police officer identified in last Thursday's, Jan. 24, shooting. Nijza Lamar Hagans, 22, was fatally shot by Hunt near South Virginia Avenue and Morganton Road.
According to a media release by Fayetteville Police officials, retaliatory threats have been made against the officer and the police department following the killing.
"General threats have been made against the department as well as departmental personnel," according to the release.
The case is still under investigation by the State Bureau of Investigation.

Why would the Fayetteville PD bend to public pressure and put this fine officer and his family out there in the court of public opinion. Easy explanation for this was; felon with a gun, admittedly by his father he was not going back to jail, situation solved! You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out what happened. This event makes Fayetteville just a little safer place with this guy gone. Thanks to all our Law Enforcment Officers who put their lives on the line each day to keep us safe.

Although Im sure the cruser video footage would completely vindicate the officer, I would rather the City get it out there than let citizens speculate as to viracity of the report or allow another national media destorted event become national news. The perp wasnt in his car, reports dont indicate whether the gun was in the car or on his person, nor does it indicate what potential crime was being committed which prompted the traffic stop. Remember, cops are not judge, jury and executioner. It just seems transparency would be in the City's and officer's best interest.

This was murder... He was running and the officer shot him in the back and in the head. The truth will come out. This officer was off duty with is a murderer every one will see.

You guys are complete idiots. Nijza's gun was in the car , just because this officer is a white male and a police officer it's ok to let him escape with murder ? Hell no , although he was a convicted felon that means nothing . Prison can change people . And the police rules are you do not shoot to kill unless the suspect is in act or seeming to kill you . As it says his gun was in the car , not on him as he was running . The officer shot him in the back and in the head , that's an unlawful kill . The officer should be sent back in the public sl he can get what he deserves .
