Lt. Colonel Roy L. Tisdale Reported as Victim of Fort Bragg Shooting

Tisdale, commander of the 525th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, was fatally shot on Thursday, The Fayetteville Observer reports.

Officials at Fort Bragg had not yet released the name of the senior leader killed in Thursday's on-post shooting late Friday, but friends have come forward to the Fayetteville Observer.

The paper reports that Lt. Col. Roy L. Tisdale, the commander of the support battalion in the 525th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, was the officer fatally shot on Thursday.

Tisdale, from Alvin, Texas. is survived by his wife, Kim.

"Taking care of the soldiers in the unit and their families is our number one priority at this time, while we simultaneously work the investigation surrounding this terrible tragedy," Lt. Gen. Daniel B. Allyn, commander of the 18th Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg, said in a Fayetteville Observer news report.

People have been leaving condolence messages on the brigade's Facebook page.

The shooter is in critical condition and is in custody, according to the Fayettville Observer's report.

Another soldier wounded in the shooting, Spc. Michael Latham, 22, of Vacaville, Calif., from at Fort Bragg.
