New Reality Show Spotlights Military Task Challenges to Benefit Charities

Monday night, NBC's newest competitive reality TV show, "Stars Earn Stripes," debuted.
The show pits eight celebrities along side elite military and law enforcement personnel to compete for money for various charities relating to military, veterans or first-responders.
One former soldier, Sgt. Grady Powell, is serving as a celebrity coach on the reality show. Powell spent two years at Fort Bragg during the beginning phases of his Special Forces training before being assigned to Fort Carson, Colo.
The celebrities fared well performing military tasks, but at the end they paid tribute and thanked the military for the jobs they do under pressure in war time.
"It showed me how much she appreciated the men and women of our Armed Forces for what they do," said Powell in the show.
The celebrity lineup includes boxing champion Laila Ali, actor Dean Cain, actor Terry Crews, singer Nick Lachey, "The Biggest Loser" trainer Dolvett Quince, Olympic gold medalist Picabo Street, WWE Diva Eve Torres and Todd Palin.
"Stars Earn Stripes" will air again at 9 p.m. next Monday.

I am a vet. I think it's great to raise awareness and money for our military. BUT I think this is not the way to go. There's soldiers who do this everyday. Find a way to spot light them. An the two marines doing the show; aren't doing it for awareness etc. They are clearly doing it for money and their own publicity. Military friends of mine and I agree we won't be giving this show any ratings.
