Two Kiowa Pilots from Bragg Killed in Afghanistan

Condolences to the Fox troop families.

 

Two pilots from the 82nd Airborne's Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment were killed from wounds sustained in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan on June 6, Wednesday according to the Department of Defense.

Capt. Scott P. Pace, 33, of Brawley, Calif. was a 2005 West Point graduate with a B.S. degree in nuclear engineering. He had been deployed twice previously to Iraq.

Pace's awards and decorations include two Purple Hearts, an Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, two Iraq Campaign Medals, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, three Overseas Service Ribbons, the Army Aviation Badge and the Combat Aviation Badge.

Mathew G. Fazzari, 25, of Walla Walla, Wash., was a 2010 graduate of Gonzaga University.

Fazzari's awards and decorations include a Purple Heart, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, the Air Assault Badge, the Army Aviator Badge and a Combat Aviation Badge.

Fazzari is survived by his wife, Tovah, and two children.
