WWE Tribute to the Troops Coming to the Crown

WWE wrestlers will visit with Fort Bragg troops before the show.

In the tradition of Bob Hope Christmas specials, Fort Bragg military personnel will be treated to a night of World Wrestling Entertainment action, along with popular musical acts, Sunday, Dec. 11 at 8 p.m. at the Crown Coliseum. The ninth annual WWE Tribute to the Troops will also feature performances by Grammy award winning R&B sensation Mary J. Blige, multi-platinum rock band Nickelback and comedian George Wallace.

Tickets are being given exclusively to Fort Bragg military and their families. The event will be taped for a two-hour special on USA Network on Tuesday, Dec. 13 from 9 to 11 p.m. and a one-hour special on NBC on Saturday, Dec. 17 from 9 to 10 p.m.

There are plans for several WWE wrestlers to visit with troops on Fort Bragg before the show.

During the event at the Crown, Miss USA 2011 Alyssa Campanella will make a special appearance along with Extra’s Maria Menounos, who will step into the ring for a special Divas match. The special will also include messages of encouragement and thanks from Matthew McConaughey, Hugh Jackman, the Muppets, Robin Williams, Bradley Cooper and Nicole Kidman, among others.
The special will chronicle WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon and wrestlers Kofi Kingston, Brie Bella and Nikki Bella’s goodwill visit to troops in Afghanistan.
WWE partners with the U.S. Army Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Programs to expand entertainment and outreach efforts to soldiers and their families around the world.
