Fall Youth Sports Registration Opens on Fort Bragg

A fun way to promote healthy habits in youth

It is that time of year.

It is time to strap on the pads, lace up the cleats, fill up the water bottles, and register the Fort Bragg youth for fall sports.

In an effort to promote healthy lifestyles at an early age, Fort Bragg’s Child, Youth & School Services (CYSS) has a Sports & Fitness Program that allows children between the ages of 4 and 18 to play on sports teams.

Parents and guardians are able to see the benefits of this program on multiple levels.

“It’s a fun way to exercise and it helps with communication and social skills” said Fort Bragg mother Chrissy Inocencio, who recently registered her son to participate in a sports program.

“I believe it sets a good foundation for healthful living in his adult years.”

The Fort Bragg Sports & Fitness Program is open to all active-duty or retired military, Department of Defense civilians, and family members. All youth interested in playing must be registered with CYSS; registration can be completed online.

Fort Bragg youth sports registration is now open for tackle football, flag football, soccer, track and field, and football cheerleading; prices and participation ages vary by sport. Discounts are available for families with multiple children participating in the same sport.

All youth must have a current sports physical to play. It is highly recommended that parents and guardians schedule medical appointments and obtain physicals in advance to avoid delays in paperwork.

CYSS is also looking for volunteer coaches to be trained and certified by the National Alliance of Youth Sports. All head coaches’ children play for free. If interested, visit the Sports & Fitness Office located at the Soldier Support Center, Building 4-2843 on Normandy Street to complete a volunteer application.
