Fayetteville Area Operation Inasmuch Puts Arts Council Grant to Good Use

Fayetteville Area Operation Inasmuch announced Thursday a project, which will renovate lives through targeted training. They will focus on exploring the cultural and economic value of promoting artistic creativity to end homelessness.

The goal is to help the homeless reclaim a place in this community with the help of a grant from the Arts Council of Fayetteville/ Cumberland County. Our ultimate intention is to restore the dignity in having a place to call home; a safe haven where rebuilt lives will segue back to being contributing members of our cultural fabric.

The mission of FAOAIM is to take action on behalf of our homeless & struggling Americans desperate to remedy obsolete or lacking employment skills.  Our intention is to encourage the time honored cultural model of using God given creativity to provide a means for a life with purpose.  The program will concentrate on imparting the artisan skills of jewelry making.  Formal training in the proper use of tools & materials will be conducted by professional instructors at the Operation Inasmuch Headquarters at 531 Hillsboro Street, Fayetteville, NC.

"The Arts Council is proud to partner with Fayetteville Area Operation Inasmuch in support of The Hands Of Inasmuch says Deborah Martin Mintz, Arts Council Executive Director. "Project Support Grants for 2013-2014 will help fund 25 projects facilitated by 22 nonprofit organizations in our community. These projects help strengthen our community through festivals and concerts, youth education programs, art exhibitions, art workshops, and so much more."  The purpose of Project Support Grants is to increase opportunities for access to arts, science, cultural and historical programming in Cumberland County.  Project Support Grants may be awarded to nonprofit agencies in Cumberland County who demonstrate financial and administrative stability.

Fayetteville Area Operation Inasmuch is a nonprofit Christian organization that epitomizes the time-honored model of beginning each workday with a hot nutritious breakfast, grooming, sober work-readiness.  They will compliment this with targeted training to help reverse the crippling cycle of homelessness.  In fiscal year 2012/13, 29,855 hot breakfast meals were served to 5790 people.  Inasmuch has also rehabbed five homes on Frink Street where over 40 people have temporarily lived as they strive towards ending the crippling cycle of homelessness and moving back to being contributing members of our community.
