The motorcyclist killed Friday night according to police reports was 19-year-old James Joseph Nickel, a soldier assigned at Fort Bragg.
Nickel was pronounced deceased upon arrival to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center after he collided with a 2000 Saturn driven by 17-year-old Andrew Green, of Hope Mills according to a Fayetteville Observer news report. Nickel was driving his 2013 Yamaha traveling east on Raeford Road when the Saturn turned left in front of the bike on Raeford Road and Sandalwood Drive. Police said the motorcycle was unable to slow down and collided with the car.
Fort Bragg has not released further information about Nickel.
