Hundreds Rally Downtown Over the Verdict of Trayvon Martin's Killer

Protestors around the country joined forces on Saturday to take a stand for Trayvon Martin.

Saturday morning around 400 people gathered for two rallies on behalf of Trayvon Martin. The Fayetteville rallies were part of over 100 other nationwide gatherings over the verdict in the shooting death of 17-year-old Sanford, Fla. student.

The crowd gathered on the Cumberland County Courthouse steps and chanted out phrases like:"What do we want?" 

Shouts of "Justice!" emitted from the group.

"You think this only happens in Florida?" asked Calvin Brewington, pastor of Beauty Spot Missionary Baptist Church. "Fayetteville is alive and well with racial profiling."

Students from local high schools wearing their school colors joined local college students, residents and professionals from Fayetteville and surrounding communities as a show of support for Martin's family.

"This is the first time I've felt passionately about an issue that could affect the future legislation in our own state," said a senior from Fayetteville Academy. 

"As a soldier, we live and work in a cultural melting pot," said a First Lieutenant from Fort Bragg. "That's not necessarily true everywhere else."
