The news spread quickly across Fayetteville when it was confirmed that Fayetteville native Mary DeLorenzo Knight was one of the victims killed in Monday's tragic shooting in Washington D.C.
According to a News 14 Carolina news report Knight held the job of an information technology contractor for the military working at the Washington Navy Yard building.
Knight was a mother of two and also a teacher at a nearby Virginia community college where her loss will be an impact on their community as well. Her family in Fayetteville had been waiting on the news after not hearing from her on Monday. A local ABC news affiliate reported that her mother Lilly DeLorenzo was contacted in Fayetteville on Monday night by the FBI.
