Cape Fear High Student Arrested for Starting a Fire in School Restroom

Cumberland County Sheriff’s Detectives have arrested a Cape Fear High School student for setting fire to a bathroom trash can.

DeOnte Jamar Liggons, 16, of 7413 Third Street, Wade, North Carolina is charged with burning of personal property.

Today, during school, Liggons was seen via surveillance cameras, entering and leaving the bathroom. Shortly afterwards a school employee put the fire out.

There were no injuries. Liggons was released to the custody of his parents under a $3,000 secured bond. He will make a first court appearance tomorrow in the Detention Center Courtroom.
