Gift Card Bandit Accomplice in Custody

Each man is facing 12 counts

Cumberland County Sheriff’s Detectives have arrested a second man wanted for breaking into more than a dozen vehicles in communities along Chickenfoot Road since August. 

Austin William Reeder, 18, of 1109 Kenan Drive, Hope Mills was taken into custody today.  Reeder and Luis Alfonso Mercado, 27,  of 5991 Lake Trail Drive, allegedly stole numerous items from a vehicle parked along Kalmia Lane earlier this month.  Some of the items were a gift card, a wallet containing a debit card, social security card, drivers license, GPS and cell phone charger.

Reeder and Mercado are each charged with four counts of felony breaking and entering, four counts of misdemeanor larceny and four counts of misdemeanor possession of stolen goods.

Both are being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center.
