Kelly Elliott Charged with First Degree Murder in Nightclub Parking Lot

On Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013 Fayetteville detectives have charged and arrested Kelly Eugene Elliott,31, with first degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection with the shooting death of Derrick Morrisey on August 30, 2013.

Kelly Elliott remains in the Cumberland County Detention Center where he is also charged with first degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and first degree kidnapping in connection with the shooting death of Errol Williams on September 1, 2013.

Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department have identified the deceased victim as Derrick Maurice Morrisey, 37, of 150 McDairmid Street in Raeford, NC. The investigation has revealed that Derrick Morrisey was walking a female to her vehicle, when he walked upon a robbery in progress. During the robbery, an exchange of gunfire took place between the parties involved. As a result of the gunfire, an innocent victim was fatally wounded.

Detectives are seeking the public's assistance in identifying suspects and vehicles that were involved in the robbery and the subsequent shooting death of Derrick Morrisey. At this time, detectives are looking for a black Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) and a silver compact vehicle that fled from the scene directly after the exchange of gunfire.
