Adopt Me: Pet of the Week, Jade

This Siberian husky needs a family.

The Fort Bragg Rescue and Adoption Center has a fully trained Siberian husky needing a good home.

Traits about this breed:

Overall, the Siberian husky is known as being friendly and gentle. The Siberian husky is not of a maliciously aggressive nature towards people or other dogs, but their exuberance towards some they meet is often mistaken for aggression. This makes him a good choice if you don't want a guard dog when company comes over - but a dog that might still inspire some caution if an intruder sees him.

This breed is very agile and athletic and can literally jump 30" of off the ground and spin 360 degrees. They love playing outside (especially when the weather gets cold). They tend to be very free-spirited, and they give absolute trust and affection to all people, especially children.

One of the most important Siberian husky traits to understand is the high energy level. This dog was developed to carry light loads very quickly, and this instinct is still present in the breed. Many huskies are known for the high energy level. If you plan on owning a husky, be prepared to allow your dog to keep up a high level of exercise - running or biking with your dog will keep the energy utilized.

Siberian husky traits still include the love of pulling carts. If you have light work to be done around the home or farm, a husky will fit the bill. This medium sized dogs love to have a job.

Without enough exercise, Siberian huskies will become bored, and eventually destructive. The husky needs to have his mind and body occupied. If you let your husky off of her leash in an open area... there is a good chance that you will not be seeing her again for awhile - if ever again.
