In an all-time low voter turnout, some of the public has spoken and have voted for Val Applewhite and Nat Robertson. According to the election office, 12,337 votes were cast, equating to a 10.14% voter turnout. At E.E. Smith High School shortly before the polls closed, volunteer Rosalee said they had a large turnout of nearly 300 voters.
The Fayetteville Regional Chamber will be hosting the next candidate forum on Oct. 17 at Fayetteville Technical Community College's Tony Rand Student Center. Many issues will come to light as the two final candidates gear up for the Nov. 5 general election.
