Fort Bragg Honors 8 Fallen Soldiers at Memorial Service

Soldiers killed in April and May were honored on Wednesday.

Fort Bragg's 82nd Airborne Division held their monthly memorial to honor eight of their paratroopers killed in April and May.

The memorial service was held at the Main Post Chapel on Wednesday, June 6, at 11a.m.

CH. (CPT) Cech provided the opening remarks and invocation while Sgt. Blue read the eight names and lit the candles for:

1LT. Jonathan P. Walsh, A Co., 2-504th PIR, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division

Pfc. Michael J. Metcalf, A Co., 2-504th PIR, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division

Cpl. Benjamin H. Neal, B Co., 1-508th PIR, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division

Pfc. Christian R. SanNicolas, A Co., 1-504th PIR, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division

Sgt. Jacob M. Schwallie, C TRP, 3-73 CAV, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division

Spc. Chase S. Marta, C TRP, 3-73 CAV, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division

Pfc. Dustin D. Gross, 3-73 CAV, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division

Spc. Samuel T. Watts, B Co., 1-508th PIR, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division

Special music was sung by the 82nd Airborne's All American Chorus followed by the benediction, Firing of Volleys by the Honor Guard and Taps played by the Honor Bugler.

So very sad. I wish there was something I could say to ease your pain or voice my gratitude for their service that would give them the proper honor they deserve. Please know I will never forget their sacrifice and hope that the rest will come home to their loved ones.
