UPDATE: Fort Bragg Soldier Denied Release by Judge for Sex Crimes

Sgt. Eric Michael Captain accused of sex crimes has been denied release.

26-year old Sgt. Eric Michael Captain, of West Lake, La., appeared in his first court appearance Tuesday afternoon.

Judge David Hasty denied Captain's request when he asked to be released on bond, stating that he needed to return to work to support his sister and her five children.

The soldier, assigned to the Army’s Bravo Battery 3rd Battalion 27th Field Artillery Regiment is being held in the Detention Center under a $61,000 secured bond according to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators say on February 25, 2012 Captain picked up two local teens near their residence.  The 13-year-old girl and 15-year-old boy were taken to the on Skibo, provided them alcohol and engaged in sexual activities with them.

Charges against Captain include; 1st and 2nd degree kidnapping, taking indecent liberties with a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
