BOSS Helps Feed the Homeless and More

Single soldiers connect in the Fayetteville community serving others while having fun.

The organization at every military installation for single soldiers, otherwise known as Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers (BOSS) actively engages in the Fayetteville community through volunteerism.

The 4th Wednesday of each month, the group meets to serve dinner to the homeless at the Salvation Army kitchen from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

According to Fort Bragg's BOSS President, Sgt. Madison Chambers, she says that BOSS is intended to improve the quality of life for single soldiers that they might actually enjoy staying single. At Fort Bragg BOSS our single soldier social calendar is always overflowing with high-energy, low-cost events and trips to get the soldiers away from the typical rigors of Army life.

This summer the group plans to hit the beaches, amusement parks, attend concerts, go whitewater rafting, rock climbing and more.

"One of the most common misconceptions about BOSS is that we are some kind of matchmaking assistance for soldiers," said Chambers. "To quote the former President George W. Bush, that would be a huge misunderestimation".
