Volunteers Needed in Search for Evidence Surrounding Kelli Bordeaux's Disappearance

Fayetteville, N.C., police are asking for volunteers to search property along Ramsey Street for clues about Kelli Bordeaux on Thursday.

On Thursday, April 26, 2012 the Fayetteville Police Department will be coordinating a search for evidence connected to the disappearance of Pfc. Kelli Bordeaux.

The search is open to volunteers from the public who are interested in helping to find Bordeaux.

Due to the significant outpouring of support from the public requesting to help in the search, notice is being sent from the Public Information Officer, Gavin MacRoberts, via the media and social media to inform the public about the opportunity to assist the Fayetteville Police Department.

Residents in the North Fayetteville area should be aware that there may be searchers crossing private property as a part of the search conducted through the Fayetteville Police Department's outreach.

A command post for the search will be set up in the parking lot of the located at the northwest corner of the intersection of Ramsey Street and Andrews Road.

Check-in for the search will be open from 9AM to 9:45AM. Volunteers will need to show a valid photo ID and sign in/out at the command post. After check-in, search teams will be assigned to various locations around the North Fayetteville area. The search is expected to begin at 10AM and run until all areas are searched. After completing the search, volunteers are required to check-out at the command post.

Suggested Items to bring:

  • Wear comfortable clothing, hat, and shoes. Volunteers may be walking through dense underbrush.
  • Water will be provided, but it is suggested to bring a bag-lunch and a backpack to carry supplies in.
  • Insect repellent and Sunscreen.
  • A walking stick is helpful and useful in case of snakes.
  • Rain gear in case of inclement weather.
