Fort Bragg To Celebrate Army Birthday with 10-Mile Race, 4-Mile Walk Tomorrow

Note: Road closures for Thursday's 10-miler event.

Soldiers and civilians will be trekking through the streets of Fort Bragg June 6 in celebration of the Army’s 238th birthday.

The 17th annual Army Birthday 10-mile race begins at 6:30 a.m. at Hedrick Stadium, and the 8th annual Army Birthday 4-mile walk will follow. The 4-mile walk will be a non-competitive event.

To ensure for participant safety, all streets included along the race route will be closed at approximately 6 a.m. These streets include Longstreet Road (from Reilly Street to Gruber Road); Keerans Road (from Longstreet Road to Butner Road); Taylor Street; Spooner (from Longstreet Road to Butner Road); Ardennes Street (from Longstreet Road to Campobello Street); and Gruber Road (from Longstreet Road to Zabitosky Street).

Motorists are asked to take alternate routes while streets are blocked off. Streets are expected to reopen at 9 a.m.

Bauguess CDC may be reached via Sicily Street to Manhay Street. Children who normally attend Baez SAS before school should be taken to the Wonderful World of Kids facility.
