XVIII Airborne Corps Celebrates Birthday with 4-Mile Run

Soldiers from the XVIII Airborne Corps celebrated their 69th birthday with a four mile run early Friday morning, Sept. 6. 

Lt. Gen. Joseph Anderson, the XVIII Airborne Corps Commanding General, and Command Sgt. Maj. Isaia Vimoto, the Corps Command Sergeant Major led the run at a brisk pace.

“Nothing is more exciting than kicking off our birthday celebration with a four mile run with all our Soldiers,” said Command Sgt. Maj. Isaia T. Vimoto.  “This is about honoring a proud tradition and building esprit de corps with the entire team.”

The birthday run began at the Campobello Street and Longstreet intersection at 6:30 a.m.  Longstreet Road was closed to vehicle traffic from 5:30 a.m. until 9 a.m.  

Family members, veterans and the general public turned out and watch the run from Hendricks Stadium, which was the turnaround point and 2-mile mark.
