82nd Combat Aviation Brigade Change of Command (PHOTOS)

Colonel Michael Musiol took command of the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade from Col. T.J. Jamison during a ceremony Thursday at Fort Bragg.

FORT BRAGG, N.C. - Col. T.J. Jamison, the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade commander, relinquished command to Col. Michael Musiol during a ceremony on Fort Bragg, Dec. 13. Jamison has commanded the Pegasus Brigade since August 2010, and led the brigade through their most recent deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from September 2011 to September 2012.   “This brigade is outstanding. I am honored not just to have commanded these paratroopers but to have been a part of this unit,” Jamison said. “These soldiers flew more hours during this rotation than any other aviation brigade in this fight and I am proud of the job they have done.”   Throughout the year-long deployment, the 82nd CAB flew more than 170,000 hours, …

Col. T. J. Jamison, the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade commander, will relinquish his command to Col. Michael J. Musiol during a change of command ceremony at Pike Field, Dec. 13 at 10 a.m. Jamison has commanded the Pegasus brigade since August 2010 and led the unit through their most recent deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from September 2011 – September 2012. Jamison next, will serve as the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence Chief of Staff at Ft. 82nd CAB Helicopters Arrive by Ship into Port of Wilmington

Apaches, Chinooks and Blackhawks, oh my!

Within recent months the personnel of the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade got a red carpet welcome home at Pope Field's Green Ramp. But what about the helicopters? According to a news release from the brigade, the helicopters arrived from Afghanistan by ship last week and will be reassembled and flown back to Fort Bragg from the Port of Wilmington. The command team, Col. T.J. Jamison and Command Sgt. Maj. Larry Farmer reported in an August news conference that the unit flew more than any unit in history: 170,000 hours. Two 82nd CAB Soldiers Killed

On Sept. 5, two Fort Bragg Warrant Officers died when their helicopter crashed

Fort Bragg and Texas are mourning the loss of two soldiers. Both were supporting a mission in "Operation Enduring Freedom." The Department of Defense says they died September 5th, in Logar Province, Afghanistan. Identified as 28 year-old Chief Warrant Officer Thalia S. Ramirez from San Antonio and 31 year-old Chief Warrant Officer Jose l. Montenegro Jr. from Houston. She was on her second deployment and he was on his third. They died from injuries sustained after their aircraft crashed. The official report says they were in a two person helicopter, an OH-58D Kiowa Warrior, when it went down. 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade Team Talks Redeployment from Afghanistan

Preparing to complete their one year deployment cycle, the leadership have been using the reintegration tools for both troops and families to ensure a smooth transition process for all.

Thursday afternoon the command team from the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB) held a live video press conference with Fayetteville media. With two flights just back at Fort Bragg, and more coming soon, the plans are in place to prepare the soldiers and families for a smooth integration process. Col. T.J. Jamison and Command Sgt. Maj. Larry Farmer answered questions and discussed the impact their soldiers have had, battlefield capabilities and reintegration upon their upcoming redeployment that will mark one year, next month. The 82nd CAB flew more than any unit in history: 170,000 hours. They have 2,700 soldiers assigned to them from Fort Bragg, and 1,200 from other units. Two Kiowa Pilots from Bragg Killed in Afghanistan

Condolences to the Fox troop families.

Two pilots from the 82nd Airborne's Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment were killed from wounds sustained in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan on June 6, Wednesday according to the Department of Defense. Capt. Scott P. Pace, 33, of Brawley, Calif. was a 2005 West Point graduate with a B.S. degree in nuclear engineering. He had been deployed twice previously to Iraq. Pace's awards and decorations include two Purple Hearts, an Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, two Iraq Campaign Medals, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, three Overseas Service Ribbons, the Army Aviation Badge and the Combat Aviation Badge.
