POLL: U.S. Air Force Academy Undermines Atheist Venue Gathering, Right or Wrong?

The Show Must Go On - organizers and sponsors worked hard at the last minute to make accommodations for the large scale event.

The U.S. Air Force Academy has pulled out of their commitment with no concrete reasons to host a previously planned speaking engagement by Richard Dawkins for Monday, Oct. 15, that offered free entry for military families. Back in March Fort Bragg held the "Rock Beyond Belief " atheist concert and nearly 9,000 Patch readers responded with a resounding 'yes' that they planned to attend the concert- which received more support than expected by Fort Bragg authorities. After negative media attention he later retracted the remarks publicly and on the church's website apologizing to anyone he "unintentionally offended." An interfaith effort comprised of both Christians and…

"Rock Beyond Belief" Rocks Fort Bragg's Facebook

The Facebook page announcement garners nearly 200 comments

The upcoming "Rock Beyond Belief" concert featuring music and speakers will take place on March 31 at Fort Bragg. The free event is sponsored by American Atheists and Stiefel Freethought Foundation with something for all ages and includes kids activities. "Foxhole atheists are fighting for your rights. Please return the favor, show up at Rock Beyond Belief 31 March," said Fort Bragg's Justin Griffith, the Military Director of American Atheists, Inc. Fort Bragg's official Facebook page posted the concert ad on their site and nearly 200 comments abounded in nearly 12 hours. Comments posted were mostly in favor of the atheist concert venue.
