Military Families Plan For Frugal Holiday Season, First Command Reports
First Command Financial Behaviors Index® reveals top ways military families are cutting back
Middle-class military families are preparing to make their dollars go farther this holiday season, with seven out of 10 shoppers planning to cut back by changing their gift-giving behaviors. The latest findings of the First Command Financial Behaviors Index® reveal that 44 percent of middle-class military families (those in pay grades E-6 and above with household incomes of $50,000 or more) expect to spend less on gifts, making it their No. 1 cost-cutting strategy for the holidays. Many of these consumers expect to make significant cuts. Forty two percent of active-duty families who plan to reduce overall spending on gifts expect to decrease it by at least $400 compared to last year.
