J. Cole visits Alma mater, Terry Sanford

Local leaders 'rap' with the singer on coming back to his roots.

Fayetteville's own Grammy-nominated hip-hop artist J. Cole came through Fayetteville Thursday afternoon. He made special appearances at both E.E. Smith and Terry Sanford high schools as part of his week long Inaugural Dreamville Weekend project. The project's goal is to inspire young people, while bringing some notoriety to his hometown. Cole remarked to the enthusiastic cheering crowd to go after their dreams. Speaking to the media, he said he hoped to convey that the world is bigger than their own neighborhood, be it Vanstory or Bonnie Doone. Singer J. Cole makes Fort Bragg his first stop after releasing new album

Fayetteville raised, J. Cole chose to return to his roots for the debut of his album

Police directed and diverted traffic last night as fans poured in the parking lots to wait in line for J. Cole's autograph inside the Sports U.S.A. on Fort Bragg. At 7:15 p.m. the crowd in line at the door was at a stand still due to the fire marshall's orders based on the number of people already inside at the maximum capacity limit for the facility. Early on September 25, J. Cole released the music video for the song 'Daddy's Little Girl'. This week on September 27 was the day that J. Cole has been waiting on for a while. His new album entitled “Cole World” debuted in stores. He is signed to Jay-z’s RocNation label. Last year he did not get the warm reception returning to his hometown of Fayetteville, NC.
