Was the State of the Union Address All You Hoped it Would Be?

President Barack Obama gave his State of the Union address Tuesday. Was it a source of comfort for you or did it leave you with concerns about the country going forward?

President Barack Obama's State of the Union address Tuesday may well be the most important speech he's ever given. It sets the tone for the legacy he will leave behind at the end of his final term. While he did say the state of the Union is "stronger," he also went on to say that there is work still to be done. His emphasis was on reigniting what he called "the true engine of America's economic growth - a rising, thriving, middle class." If you missed it, here is the full text from the president's SOTU address from ABC News. In the Republican response, however, Sen. Marco Rubio R-Fla., said that the vision the president laid out relied on government to fix everything, saying, "to make it to the middle class or beyond no matter where you …

President Obama Welcomes Home Troops at Fort Bragg

As the end of the Iraq war nears, the Commander-in-Chief applauds the efforts of servicemembers, families and community supporters.

President Barack Obama, joined by first lady Michelle Obama, made his first visit to Fort Bragg on Wednesday, welcoming home the troops as the end of the Iraq War draws near and thanking the men and women in uniform for their service. “As your Commander-in-Chief, and on behalf of a grateful nation, I’m proud to finally say these two words: Welcome home,” President Obama told the cheering crowd of troops and family members. President Obama spoke about the enormous sacrifices and achievements of Americans who served in the Iraq War and their family members over the nearly nine-year conflict in Iraq. “The incredible men and women of Fort Bragg have been there every step of the way. Serving with honor; sacrificing greatly,” the president said …

President Obama's Security Detail and Crew Arrive

The sleek white government aircraft landed at Pope field shortly after 2 p.m. on Tuesday and the FAA has issued TFR NOTAMS for all aircraft at specified times on Wednesday.

Pope Field was looking pristine Tuesday afternoon as crews raked leaves and washed down the hangar entrances to prepare for President Obama's visit this afternoon. Aviation training in practice areas surrounding Fort Bragg has been interrupted. A sequence of events involving numerous agencies begin co-ordinations when the Commander-in-Chief flies into town. On Monday the Federal Aviation Administration issued a NOTAM – the quasi-acronym meaning 'Notice to Airmen'. NOTAMs are created and transmitted by government agencies and airport operators under guidelines. For today's visit, the NOTAM issued falls under a TFR, Temporary Flight Restriction due to President Obama's flight in and out of Pope Field. The information is disseminated for all …

Obama Aims to Put Jobless Veterans to Work

Controversial proposal creates incentives for businesses that hire veterans and military spouses.

The Jobs Act and Veterans Hiring Initiative announced by President Obama during his address to the nation last week would create substantial tax credits for employers in hopes that employers would then hire more workers. The Veterans Hiring Initiative provides even more tax credits for employers who hire disabled and non-disabled veterans and military spouses. However, the president is having a hard time convincing Congressional Republicans, and even many Democrats, to embrace the proposal. White House representatives Danielle Lazarowitz and Matt Flavin hosted a conference call yesterday to explain the American Jobs Act and Veterans Hiring Initiative to community and advocacy group leaders around the country.   “Veterans bring unparalleled…
