USARC Dedicates Fallen Soldier Memorial

A permanent memorial, dedicated to all U.S. Army Reserve soldiers who have paid the ultimate price for freedom throughout history, was unveiled June 6, 2012, at the U.S. Army Reserve Command headquarters, here. “We’re free today because for nearly 237 years, whenever freedom has been threatened, gallant men and women have answered the call,” said Maj. Gen. Keith L. Thurgood, U.S. Army Reserve Command chief of staff. “These soldier heroes who gave their last full measure follow a long and unbroken line of Americans who came to the defense of freedom when that call came.” Thurgood asked the audience to “honor and remember their sacrifice by the life we lead and let this memorial be a reminder that freedom is always a matter of choice and …
