Veteran Benefits Bill Ushers in VA Loan Changes

Updates will help surviving spouses, service members with disabilities, married military couples and more.

Some key changes to the VA home loan program are on the way now that a wide-ranging veteran benefits bill is on the books. President Obama signed the “Honoring America’s Veterans and Caring for Camp Lejeune Families Act” this week. A big part of the measure centers on health care coverage for people exposed to contaminated drinking water at Camp Lejeune. The law contains provisions on everything from homelessness and health to protests at military funerals. But some of the home loan changes will help surviving spouses, married military couples, single-parent service members and veterans with disabilities.
