About Kelly

With the call sign 'Household 6', I enjoy spending time with my G.I. Joe and two Army brats. I am honored to share that call sign with many other capable and sometimes frazzled spouses who are serving from the home front, each in their own way.

News does not happen in a newsroom. I look forward to being out and about seeking out the most relevant and timely community news at Fort Bragg, whether it's late breaking, educational, or light-hearted. Presenting the news in a multi-media format is a great package for busy readers. I don't have one friend who has time to lounge around in the morning reading an actual newspaper over coffee. Reading the news on your smart phone, now that's just Patchy.

Fan me on Facebook, follow me on Twitter and bookmark fortbragg.patch.com  I can't wait to hear from you!

Your Beliefs
At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable. This disclosure is not a license for you to inject your beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that your beliefs are on the record will cause you to be ever mindful to write, report and edit in a fair, balanced way. And if you ever see evidence that we failed in this mission, please let us know.

Politics
How would you describe your political beliefs?

More on the conservative end, but I like to consider all angles of an issue.

Are you registered with a certain party?

I am registered Republican, but have voted otherwise in local elections from time to time.

Religion
How religious would you consider yourself?

Well, I hate that term 'religious' when referring to people. Either you have an ongoing relationship with 'the boss' or you don't. I've got the hotline number to God and we talk daily; it's free, no roaming, no long distance fees.

Local Hot-Button Issues

What do you think are the most important issues facing the community?

As in any town the issues affecting the community are constantly ongoing, evolving, and being taken into consideration. As part of the military community I have to say length of deployments, quality of life issues for both soldiers and families, high operational tempo cycles, increasing military suicide rates, families unraveling at the seams and the biggest one right now - PTSD and the care of our wounded warriors.
