82nd Airborne Division Paratrooper Identified After Drowning at White Lake

Pvt. Jordan Miles was a member of the 1st Brigade Combat Team.

FORT BRAGG, N.C. - An 82nd Airborne Division paratrooper drowned at White Lake, N.C., Saturday. The incident is under investigation.

Pvt. Jordan Miles, 21, of Longview, Texas, was an intelligence analyst with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Brigade Combat Team.

“Pvt. Miles was an exceptional Paratrooper and an integral member of our team.” said Lt. Col. Mark S. Childress, Mile’s battalion commander.  “Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends, we will never forget him”

Miles joined the Army in October 2012 and attended basic combat training at Fort Jackson, S.C., followed by advanced individual training at Fort Huachuca, Ariz. He then completed the U. S. Army Airborne School at Fort Benning, Ga. and was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division in June 2013.

His awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon and the Parachutist Badge.
