Police Searched Lockers at Max Abbott Middle School for a Possible Weapon, Student Says

It is not confirmed by school officials what the police were looking for.

Several Cumberland County, Robeson and Sampson County Sheriff's vehicles along with Fayetteville Police Department vehicles were parked at the entrances to Max Abbott Middle School on Monday around 11:30a.m., the last half day of classes.

The K9 units were inside the school doing a search and a student said after school that they had to remain in their class for 30 minutes for a code yellow lock-down while the lockers were searched.

Though nothing was confirmed by teachers or a police report, students had heard that the officials were looking for a gun in a student's locker, but nothing was found.

The law enforcement entities were doing training nearby and were able to show up with the canine units quickly on the scene and fortunately it turned out to be an uneventful day.
