Seventy-First High School Football Player Collapsed and Died Saturday

Evan Raines, a junior, died at the hospital after Saturday's practice.

Details are under still uncertain, but Dr. Frank Till, superintendent of Cumberland County Schools, confirmed that Seventy-First High School football player Evan Raines collapsed in practice and later died at the hospital.

"We don't know medically what happened,'' Till said in a Fayetteville Observer report. "The first responders and EMS got there, and he passed away at the hospital."

The Falcons first game is a home game on Aug. 23 against Westover High School.
