Operation R&R Charleston treats military families to a free vacation

Other destinations include Hilton Head, SC and Austin, Texas

Operation R&R is a non-profit organization designed to provide service men and women an opportunity to reconnect with their spouses and children upon their return from Iraq, Afghanistan, or other world-wide deployments.

Property owners, represented by many property management companies, are donating their homes and villas around Charleston, SC and other areas for this purpose.

All of this is to ensure that our military families have a chance to spend some time away from their everyday lives to strengthen relationships that have been strained due to long separations and extreme circumstances.

Eligibility includes those who have been deployed within the past 24 months to Iraq, Afghanistan or other worldwide deployments without their immediate family.

  • Currently on active duty at Fort Bragg Army.
  • First time participant (families are only eligible to participate one time).
  • Signed rental agreement with credit card information as a security against damage.
  • Married (with or without children).
  • Able to stay between 4 - 7 nights.
  • Within a 4-hour drive of Charleston.
  • Read and acknowledge Cancellation Policy.
  • No Pets Allowed.

The program runs annually from September to May. They do not provide trips in the months of June, July and August.

Once your application is received by Operation R&R it will be reviewed and filed. They will respond back to you just to confirm that they received your application. About 45 days before the requested date of your stay you will be contacted to confirm whether or not the dates are still good. If they are then they start the process of finding a home or villa for you and your family.
